Elpida Spyrou

Elpida Spyrou is a licensed architect based in Athens & Chania, Greece.

 

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Architectural Engineering from Westminster University, London (2005) and a Diploma in Architecture with a specialization in Energy Efficient Buildings from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford (2010). Her studies in sustainable architecture won a scholarship from the Vardinogiannis Foundation.

 

She firstly practiced as an architect at Holder Mathias Architects in London and ISV Architects in Greece, and has been involved in a wide variety of projects as a registered architect collaborating with mab architecture, Spiros Soulis & Branco Berlic architects and IKT-MARMARON.

 

In 2017, she founded hope architecture & design in Athens, later expanding to Chania in 2022.

 

She is a member of the Open House Athens Organizing Committee (www.openhouseathens.gr), Architecture Sans Frontieres-UK (www.asf-uk.org/) and an elected board member on the Architects of Chania Association, which is part of the Hellenic Union of Registered Architects (ΣΑΔΑΣ-ΠΕΑ).

 

In 2016 she launched @athensfacades, a curated Instagram blog that showcases the architectural beauty of Athenian facades. The platform has gained significant media attention and consistent press coverage.

 

Her work has been published and displayed in various locations and exhibitions, including Oxford Brookes University and Benaki Museum of Athens. In 2024 her project “summer house in Ios” was selected and displayed at the 11th Biennale of Young Greek Architects. The exhibition was held in Thessaloniki, Athens and Larissa, followed by a publication including all selected projects.

 

Apart from her architectural career she is co-owner of Spirou Editions & E. Spirou Editions and a regular member of ΕΔΙΠΤ (Hellenic Union of Journalists/Editors of Periodical Press).
